The President of the Republic, Juan Carlos Varela, inaugurated the business and commercial pavilion of Panama at the International Import Fair of China, which is sponsored by the Panama Exporta brand, in which 23 Panamanian companies exhibit their products.
The Minister was accompanied by the Ministers of Commerce and Industries, Augusto Arosemena, and Agricultural Development, Enrique Carles. The representative of the Panamanian Association of Exporters, Rosmer Jurado and Deputy Mayor of Shanghai, Xu Kun Lin, also participated.
President Varela took the opportunity to congratulate the entrepreneurs who took on the challenge of participating in this fair and asked them to share this experience with other Panamanian colleagues so that next year there will be a hundred companies that will take their products to Shanghai. He also thanked the Ministers of Commerce and Industries and Agricultural Development and all their work team for making Panama have such an important and varied representation of agricultural and agroindustrial products. In the framework of this event, the President shared with the Panamanian exhibitors, who took the opportunity to show the products they offer and share the experience of being for the first time at the International Import Fair of China.
President Varela stressed that during the first semester of 2018 the entrance of 13,000 Chinese tourists to Panama was registered and he was confident that this figure increases. During the night, the President met with Li Qiang, secretary of the Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China, with whom he exchanged views on the progress of diplomatic relations between the two countries more than a year after being established.
